Leading Israeli Telecom Group Cellcom Chooses RAD

Cellcom's CTO:

Cellcom Israel is a leading telecom company. We provide mobile, business, residential, and wholesale services. In the past year, we’ve also launched CellcomTV.

We’re operating in a very competitive market and so we were looking for solutions with the most advanced tools to roll out new services quickly and to ensure top performance for our customers.

With RAD’s Service Assured Access solutions, we found a rich portfolio that helps us both in delivering advanced business services, and revolutionizing the way we monitor and troubleshoot our mobile backhaul infrastructure and TV broadcast network.

We started to deploy RAD’s ETX-2 advanced demarcation device for business services in 2015. We use the service lifecycle toolset embedded in the ETX to help us deliver high quality, reliable and assured Carrier Ethernet services.

We also use zero-touch provisioning that allows our technicians to install any ETX in the field and trigger RADview management for configuration and “point and click” service definition. We found it to be very effective in ensuring that our services are up and running without a hitch - very quickly.

In addition, we use the embedded service activation tests to verify the correct configuration and service performance.

As a fresh OTT TV player, we had to make sure that we deliver the best customer experience. To do that, we needed a smart way to constantly monitor our service performance and solve issues before they turn into problems that affect our customers. We’ve been using the MiNID as a unique performance monitoring endpoint to identify and segment performance degradation in our IPTV broadcast network. We also use it to monitor connectivity to our international locations. It has been working like a charm…

RAD’s Service Assured Access solutions help us maintain quality services to our customers.

Cellcom's Head of Mobile Services Dev:

Cellcom Israel is the largest mobile operator in Israel, serving 2.8 Million subscribers. We’ve launched LTE services in 2014.

We wanted to ensure that the user experience we deliver is competitively superior, so we’ve decided to implement an always-on performance monitoring solution in our backhaul network.

We needed a solution that would: 1. Support thousands of eNodeBs and 2. Provide deep visibility of our transport. We selected RAD’s PM Controller working opposite base station responders to continuously monitor key performance indicators. RAD helps us add PM capabilities where needed with the pluggable MiNID probes. The RADview Performance Monitoring Portal shows us the data collected by the PM Controller in intuitive graphs and reports, so that we can quickly take action where and when needed.

The key decisive criteria for us when selecting RAD were the advanced RADview management tools, RAD’s responsiveness, value for money, and the good support offered by Bynet, RAD’s partner.

The RAD PM solution allows us to proactively monitor and isolate faults in 3rd party carriers’ leased lines and in our microwave chains.
