Software Defined IoT and Enhanced Connectivity in Private Campus Networks
With digital transformation going at full speed, industrial campuses today, whether they are LTE or 5G-based, require much more than simple connectivity. There are a lot more devices – and device types – that need to be connected, different networks to connect to, and a multitude of applications that reside in various locations: within the campus, on the public cloud, etc.
What does this mean? The network needs to be a lot more sophisticated to accommodate such complexity and variety in requirements. Enter SD-IoT. Similar to SD-WAN’s overlay architecture for business services, SD-IoT is a major enabler for today’s industrial networks.
In this webinar:
We review the key use cases in which SD-IoT addresses enhanced connectivity needs in operational networks (OT), and how it’s done. These include:
- Ultra resiliency for continuous operations: Enabling hardware and software resiliency for IoT connectivity to applications hosted on public clouds.
- Service continuity for industrial vehicles: Ensuring always-on connectivity for mobile devices within the campus.
- Ethernet expansion over the mobile campus network: Enabling extensively used Ethernet traffic (e.g., GOOSE, Ethercast, Profinet) to be carried over IP-based private LTE and 5G networks.
- Ultra reliability: Maintaining extremely low packet loss for demanding applications.
