2021 Networking Survey Report - 5G

To gain insight into the new normal for today’s communications services, we surveyed 100 senior network executives from communications service providers around the world.

The first clear insight we saw is that 5G uplink is seen as a viable access alternative for L2 business services: 71% of respondents see future support for 5G cellular uplink as either important or critical in their Ethernet Network Interface Device.

Another insight is that flexibility is the most essential attribute in 5G Cell Site Gateways. 45% cited physical interfaces supporting any xHaul segment – fronthaul, midhaul and backhaul – as the most important CSG buying criteria.  30% voted for flexibility to support future 5G standards with a field-programmable chip.
