RAD and the Global COVID-19 Outbreak
“Change is the only constant in life,” said a wise Greek philosopher and boy, how everyone’s life has changed in just a short couple of months.
These days we’re facing a new world order, and everyone needs to adapt fast to survive, literally. The situation of the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak is fluid and the level of uncertainty high. The main priority for us at RAD is to move quickly so that we remain fully operational, while reducing to a minimum the risk to our employees and partners.
Well, I am happy to report that RAD remains open for business and our in-house manufacturing facility continues to operate @100% capacity to meet our customers’ needs at this critical time!
How have we done that?
Almost all RAD employees have been successfully transitioned to remote work and they remain focused on their tasks and on serving our customers and partners. All ongoing activities and plans continue, even in these new work arrangements.
By the way, this transition has been pretty straightforward for us. Even in “normal” days, where the only thoughts that the word “Corona” brought to mind were an exotic beach and a slice of lemon, we were making great strides towards digital transformation with the increasing use of online collaboration tools, remote development and production management. These were taking up a growing share of our organizational toolbox as RAD operates in many time zones and locations, and believes in pushing innovation to the next level. Our IT department is working around the clock to make sure that we remain highly productive even under the new conditions.
So, we continue to receive orders and deliver products to our customers, right on schedule. Thanks to our in-house manufacturing facilities in Israel, we have a higher degree of flexibility and control over fulfilling orders and shipments. Our extraordinary operations teams remain on-site, with full protective measures so that we can keep them safe, while making sure everything is running smoothly.
It’s also important to note that Israeli government authorities have taken all necessary steps to maintain open borders – both sea and air – for cargo, to assure the constant flow of merchandise in and out of the country. Local and foreign shipping companies continue their regular shipping schedules.
It’s quite clear that recent developments have a much greater impact than the immediate health and economical aspects, in that they are likely to push forward trends that were taking hold at slower pace. We’ll discuss these implications in our upcoming blog posts. Stay tuned and keep safe!
