Tackling Industrial IoT’s Security and Connectivity Challenges – Two Birds, One Box
Organizations looking to roll out Industrial IoT (IIoT) deployments face many issues that require addressing, as has already been discussed here in this blog. To effectively cope with IIoT’s big challenges – security, automated operations and actionable data – such organizations stand to benefit from an innovative approach that brings together two key elements: Secure Edge Computing, specifically designed for mission-critical environments, and operator-independent global managed connectivity.
As a proponent of this philosophy, RAD has been vigilant in finding ways to help critical infrastructure operators allow immediate roll out of large-scale automated systems, such as RTUs, smart meter aggregation devices, load breakers, traffic control sensors, CCTV cameras, point of sale devices, and more, with advanced visibility, control and cyber defense – anywhere in the world. One such way is by ensuring global connectivity without the need to rely on agreements with local operators.
That is why we’ve incorporated an advanced eSIM from KORE Wireless’ ASPIDER-NGI, which serves as an IoT mobile virtual network enabler (MVNE), within our SecFlow-1v secure industrial IoT (IIoT) gateway with Edge Computing capabilities.
This way, a single box is used to provide everything that today’s IIoT environments require. It secures all remote connections and allows remote visibility into all devices on the network with unified management and smart threat response. On top of that, it enables on-demand availability and real-time, automated life cycle management.
Together with the SecFlow-1v’s Zero-Touch capabilities, the universal eSIM that is integrated in it is pre-provisioned to ensure that the secure IIoT gateway is ready to go right out of the box, making for truly fast deployments.
Several system integrators are already taking advantage of this joint solution by RAD and ASPIDER-NGI, as it offers a compelling case for smart, automated networks.
