RAD to Hold Live Demo of its Unique Service Assured Access SFP at Mobile World Congress
RAD Data Communications will be holding a live demonstration for selected customers of the MiNID, its new innovative SFP form-factor Service Assured Access Network Interface Device (NID), at Mobile World Congress 2013, to be held February 25-28 in Barcelona.
“The MiNID will deliver huge savings to service providers by dramatically reducing operational expenses and complexity, leading to lower TCO,” notes Sharon Sosner, RAD’s MiNID Product Line Manager. “This is particularly true for mobile base stations and especially small cell deployments where the MiNID’s minimum touch-deployment, proactive fault management, minuscule size and negligible energy consumption are critical issues.”
The finger-sized MiNID plugs into any base station to provide remote service monitoring and diagnostic capabilities like fault isolation as well as service prioritization. This allows mobile operators and wholesaler transport providers alike to receive real time network and performance reports with per-CoS SLA definition and to ensure robust performance for bandwidth hungry applications.
The MiNID differs from standalone NIDs because it does not require any external power source, which translates into a significant reduction in operating expenses (OpEx). Because it is incorporated into the SFP cage of the host device, it does not take up any rack space and there is no installation. This simplifies inventory control and will expedite small cell connectivity.
In addition, the MiNID is remotely managed with low-touch configuration independently from its hosting device or integrated with its hosting device to allow them to act together and appear as a single box, reducing network complexity even further.
