Emir Halilovic joined GlobalData in 2017 as a Principal Analyst on the Service Provider Infrastructure (Global Telecom Technology & Software) team. His focus at GlobalData is on optical transport layer products and technology including WDM, OTN switching, OADMs, Packet Optical Networking, and converged IP/Optical platforms. He has a particular interest in how deep changes in service provider networks, like 5G, NFV and software-defined networking, affect the evolution of transport products and technologies.

Public cloud adoption and telco network transformation are the catalysts for SD-WAN evolution, bringing it in line with modern enterprise priorities, and opening space for telco service differentiation.
CSPs need to satisfy growing capacity needs of data centers, enterprise HQs, and inter-operator interconnection by expanding capacity of their Ethernet services. To do all this, and support SDN in Ethernet access, a new breed of EAD is needed.
